Data You Give Us Directly
If you enter a name, phone number, or address into a search form, the information is sent to the third-party provider that supplies those results. Ventura Residents Directory does not keep a copy of the search terms on its own servers. If you contact us, we receive the contents of your message and use that information to respond or address the request.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our hosting provider may record ordinary technical logs, including an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time stamps. We review aggregate patterns to keep the reference available and understand which Ventura record pages are useful. Cookies or similar tools may be used for basic analytics or, when applicable, advertising measurement.
What We Do With This Data
Technical information is used to operate the reference, find errors, measure general traffic, and improve its pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create personal profiles of individual readers. A message sent to us is used for the purpose for which it was supplied.
Links to Other Websites
Pages link to Ventura County, City of Ventura, California, court, library, archive, and other outside resources. A linked office or service controls the information entered on its own portal and applies its own privacy notice. Sponsored search results are supplied by a third party and are governed by that provider's terms and data practices.
Who Might See Your Data
Hosting and technical service providers may process server logs to keep the pages running. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the limited automatic information described above. We disclose information when valid legal process requires it and do not otherwise provide a visitor list to public-record custodians or commercial parties.
How We Protect Your Data
Pages are served over an encrypted connection. Logs are retained only for the operational purposes described here. There are no accounts, passwords, or reader profiles on Ventura Residents Directory for an attacker to access.
Users Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from someone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor sent us information, contact us through the Contact page so the message and any related copy can be removed.
Your Data Rights
California's California Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code section 1798.100 et seq., as amended by the CPRA, gives qualifying rights to know, access, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit sensitive-information use, and avoid discrimination for exercising those rights. Because this reference keeps very little reader information, a request usually concerns the contact mailbox or available server logs.
The California Public Records Act, Government Code section 7920.000 et seq., governs records held by state and local agencies, not by this private reference. Requests to remove or correct a deed, court file, voter record, vital record, or license must go to the Ventura or California custodian that created or maintains it. A privacy request to this reference cannot change an official record.
For a request about information we hold, use the Contact page. We may need enough information to locate the request and may ask for a reasonable verification. Do not send more sensitive information than necessary.
Updates to This Policy
When our data practices or the applicable California rules change, an updated policy will be posted here. Continued use after an update means the revised wording governs future use of the reference.
