Terms of Use

These terms apply to the use of Ventura Residents Directory. Accessing or using the reference means you accept them. If you do not agree, please stop using the pages and linked search tools.

1. What This Website Is

Ventura Residents Directory is a privately operated reference about public rolls, record indexes, and historical collections connected with Ventura, California. It hosts no government record and has no affiliation with Ventura County, the City of Ventura, a California agency, a court, a library, or another custodian. Links identify possible access routes; the linked office remains the source of the record.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use the reference and anything reached through it only for lawful purposes. You may not use it to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm another person
  • Locate someone who is protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft, fraud, impersonation, or another unlawful act
  • Make a decision regulated by the FCRA, including credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the pages at scale
  • Interfere with the site's operation, security, or availability

3. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Ventura Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency as that term is defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. section 1681 et seq. Nothing on these pages, and no result returned by a linked search service, is a consumer report. It may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose regulated by the FCRA.

4. Links to Outside Sites

Government portals, libraries, archives, courts, and sponsored tools set their own terms, privacy policies, fees, and access limits. Ventura Residents Directory does not control their availability, content, pricing, or data practices and is not responsible for a reader's use of an outside service.

5. No Warranties

The reference is offered as is and as available, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that a page, office detail, fee, coverage statement, external link, or search result is accurate, complete, current, or available at every moment.

6. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or other damages arising from use of these pages or a linked resource. This includes a decision made from a record or result found through the reference.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the operators from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorney fees, that arises from your misuse of the reference or violation of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The original writing, design, logo, and page layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a short excerpt with attribution is welcome. Full-page republication and systematic copying are not permitted without written permission.

9. Changes to These Terms

New terms may be posted on this page when the reference or its practices change. Continued use after a revision is posted indicates acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Cutting Off Access

Access may be blocked or limited when a user violates these terms, abuses a search tool, or threatens the operation or security of the reference. Restriction may occur without advance notice.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by California law, without applying conflict-of-law principles. The California Public Records Act, Government Code section 7920.000 et seq., governs qualifying records held by state and local agencies. The California Consumer Privacy Act, Civil Code section 1798.100 et seq., governs qualifying privacy rights with covered businesses. Neither statute makes this private reference a government custodian.

12. Severability

If a court finds one portion of these terms unenforceable, that portion will be limited or removed to the extent required, and the remaining terms will continue in effect.

13. Questions
